This is a short tutorial on how to add, edit and delete events on the Calendar Pages of the Buddhist Council of the Midwest. Member organizations are invited to take full advantage of the Calendar as a way of publicizing events and linking back to member sites.
We'll try to cover the basics here and not get into the relatively complex items that are available, so we'll try to look at how to add events on a daily basis. Once you become familiar with adding individual events, you're free to look at the help section and get adventurous.
This Calendar is hosted on a remote site Calendars.net. Service is not always fast, so be prepared for slight delays as you sign-in and post changes. We occasionally get a "page not found" response, but "refresh" usually fixes that.
That said - here we go:
To add, update or delete items - you must first obtain a username and password from the webmaster. To do so, send an email to the webmaster.
NOW YOU HAVE A USERNAME AND PASSWORD - WHAT NEXT?
If you're here, you can now GoTo the Calendar. Using this link will open the Calendar in a separate window so that you can toggle between the two pages and return to the tutorial to get further instruction.
To sign-in and begin adding an event - Click on the Administer: This Calendar link. You will see a sign-in pop-up screen:
Enter your username and password and click "OK" - you will be signed-in to the Calendar at the second level of administration that allows you to add, edit or delete events. This creates the maximum flexibility for an editor. We ask that you use this responsibly and do not delete events of other organizations.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Calendar lacks a confirmation screen that tells you that you've signed-in - it simply goes away. The sure way to tell if you are signed-in is to try to go to the next step: Click on Add Events: Daily.
You will then get a small screen:
Click on the date you wish to create an event and the click on Create:
You will be taken to a screen where you can add information about your event:
Here is a fill-in screen for the next BCM meeting:
Click the "Submit" button and you should see this screen:
Click on "View Calendar" to see your entry. When the visitor clicks on the entry for more information, they'll also see a pop-up screen. You can even add a link-back to event information on your site:
To edit and event, GoTo the Daily Events for the appropriate date and click Edit.
You will be given an "Update Entry" screen that will allow you to change information or even delete the entry.
Make any changes you need to make and click the "Submit" button - Click the "Delete" button to delete the item.
